Three Japanese inventors of high brightness energy-saving blue LED won the Nobel Prize for Physics
According to Japan's Kyodo News Agency, on the evening of the 10th local time, the 2014 Nobel Prize awarding ceremony was held at the Concert Hall in Stockholm, Sweden. Three Nobel Prize winners in Physics, Professor Hiroshi Amano (54 years old), professor of Nagoya University, and Shuji Nakamura (60 years old), professor of University of California, Santa Barbara, presented medals and certificates.
The blue LEDs that contribute to the improvement of the quality of human life are completed by the Japanese from basic research and development to practical application, so they won the award together. This is the second time a Japanese has won the Nobel Prize since Shinya Yamanaka (52), a professor at Kyoto University, won the Physiology Prize in 2012. So far, the number of Nobel Prize winners in Japan has reached 22.
Akasaki, Amano, and Nakamura took the stage to accept the award in turn. After the award ceremony, Nakamura laughed and said "it's finally over", Amano said frankly "I feel very nervous", and Akasaki said "this is a long road".
The three received the award for their invention of blue LEDs that enable high-brightness, energy-saving lighting. The committee members of the Nobel Prize in Physics praised the three people for "obtaining the calcium nitride crystal (used as a material) with great perseverance and a little luck when the whole world gave up."

What is the quality of LED products on the market? A few days ago, the Jilin Provincial Industrial and Commercial Bureau entrusted the Jilin City Industrial and Commercial Bureau to conduct spot checks on the LED lamps produced and sold by 28 enterprises in Zhongshan, Foshan, Shenzhen and other places in Guangdong. In this product quality spot check, indicators such as signs, lamp power, initial luminous efficacy, power factor, color characteristics, insulation resistance, and dielectric strength were tested. Among the 59 groups of samples, 43 groups of samples were judged to be unqualified, and the unqualified rate was 72.88% (commodity quality spot checks and inspections by the industrial and commercial departments have certain pertinence, and the test results do not represent the overall quality level of market-circulating commodities).
